Anthill is a story-sharing platform for Zambian writers. We connect Zambian authors who want to share their original, captivating fiction with readers seeking stories that reflect their lives, languages, and spaces. Anthill is managed by Zambian authors interested in seeing other Zambian writers succeed.

2Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the Anthill platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all terms incorporated by reference. If you do not agree to all of these terms, do not use our platform. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Anthill.

3Age Restriction

Anthill allows mature content and is not suitable for anyone aged below 18 years. By using our platform, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from or allow registration by anyone under 18 years of age.

4Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to change or modify these Terms at any time and in our sole discretion. If we make changes, we will provide notice of such changes, such as by sending an email notification, providing notice through the platform, or updating the 'Last Updated' date at the top of these Terms. Your continued use of our platform after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

5User Accounts and Registration

To access certain features of our platform, you must register for an account. When creating an account, you must provide accurate and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your computer or device. Authors must provide valid banking information for payment processing.

6Author Copyright and Ownership

Authors retain full ownership and copyright of their work published on the Anthill site. By publishing on Anthill, you grant us a non-exclusive license to distribute and sell your content on our platform. You represent and warrant that you own all rights to the content you publish and have the authority to grant these rights.

7Content Guidelines and Editorial Review

All stories submitted to Anthill undergo editorial review to maintain high-quality standards. We accept original fiction including short-chapter novellas (up to 35,000 words), short fiction (up to 5,000 words), and flash fiction (500-1,000 words). Stories must be in English with vernacular elements. We do not accept plays, poetry, memoirs, non-fiction, children's stories, or previously published works. Authors must incorporate editorial feedback before publication.

8AI-Generated Content Policy

Anthill has zero tolerance for AI-generated stories. We only accept original, human-created fiction. Any submission found to contain AI-generated content will be rejected, and the author will not be allowed to submit to the platform going forward. This policy is strictly enforced to maintain the authenticity and quality of Zambian storytelling on our platform.

9Payment Structure and Author Compensation

Anthill collects a 15% platform fee on each story sale. This fee contributes to site maintenance and payment of editors. Authors receive 85% of the sale price. Authors can set their own pricing with platform recommendations. Payments are processed weekly to author bank accounts. Authors are responsible for any tax or other fiduciary obligations they may have.

10Reader Purchases and Refunds

All payments are processed through secure third-party payment processors. Readers pay a small price for each story and can read at their own pace. Refunds may be provided at our discretion for technical issues or unauthorized purchases, typically within 7 days of purchase.

11Intellectual Property Rights

The Anthill platform and all content and other materials on the platform, including the Anthill logo, designs, text, graphics, software, and the selection and arrangement thereof are the proprietary property of Anthill or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Authors retain copyright to their published stories.

12Privacy and Data Protection

Your privacy is important to us. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information about how we collect, use, and disclose information about our users. By using our platform, you consent to the collection and use of your information as outlined in our Privacy Policy.

13Prohibited Uses

You may not use our platform to: submit AI-generated content, engage in any illegal activities, violate any laws, infringe on intellectual property rights, distribute harmful content, upload previously published works, submit content you don't own the rights to, attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, or interfere with the proper functioning of our platform.

14Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to our platform immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Violations such as submitting AI-generated content will result in permanent account termination. Upon termination, your right to use the platform will cease immediately, but provisions that should survive termination will remain in effect.

15Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Anthill shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

16Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Zambia. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or our platform will be resolved in accordance with Zambian law. We encourage users to contact us first to resolve any disputes amicably.
